[TYPO3-mvc] Configuration of Command Controller

hi everybody,

is there a way to configure a command controller?

i tried to configure it with typoscript (path to an external xml file 
that should be fetched by the command controller) but i could not get it 
to work - i tried $this->settings and the configuration manager 
(Tx_Extbase_Configuration_ConfigurationManager) but i guess i does not 
make sense to configure a command controller via typoscript, does it?
