[TYPO3-mvc] Setting storagePid to the current page

Am I getting this right, that there is no possibility to use stdWrap for any plugin configuration 
for the "sake" of getting rid of the dots? Seems quite unsatisfying to me..

Is there any discussion or explanation you can provide a link for?
