[TYPO3-ttnews] [tx_news] language override utf problems

I'm using current git version (3.1.0-dev) on typo3 6.2.4 and I have a 
problem with language strings overrides.

I'm using utf-8 "everywhere" (server, php, mysql, typo3), typo3 is set 
up for pl-PL-UTF-8. Default polish translation works fine from the 
technical point of view.

But when I insert

plugin.tx_news._LOCAL_LANG.pl {
	more-link = Więcej...
}

in my typoscript - the string comes out mangled: WiÄ?cej...

Any idea what might be the reason?
