[TYPO3-ttnews] show categories from one parent category

Hi,

I have set up a large category tree with quite different categories. Let's 
say it looks something like this:

+ colour
  - blue
  - red
  - green
+ size
  - small
  - medium
  - large
+ country of origin
  - france
  - england
  - germany


Now showing the assigned categories in the single view results in something 
like 'blue, small, france'.
What I'd like to do is create three separate plugins, each showing just the 
assigned category or categories from one parent category (resulting in 
something like 'Colour: blue', 'Size: small' and 'Country of origin: France, 
Germany'.
However, there doesn't seem to be a way to restrict the ###NEWS_CATEGORY### 
marker to the categories from a parent category, or the categories stored on 
a page.
Am I overlooking something?
