Hi Marcus,

maybe Georg's extension rgnewsimg could help you.
Although it's designed to select between different image layouts in SINGLE view, customizing shouldn't be too difficult.

I've just changed it (dirty) to LATEST view + DAM instead of SINGLE within a few minutes. I will ask Georg some time if he wants to add possibility to select layout for other views or I should keep my fork (hint: this is not implemented, yet!).
