[TYPO3-ttnews] Best practice for headline news?

This is not a full solution because I can't see at the moment how you would
achieve it.

But, I would look at each of the 5 sections as separate news areas and give
each one it's own LIST and pid folder to store the respective news in.

This allows you to add new items in each area and leave the remainder in
place.

When you want to show them all as a list just pick the PIDS to display the
LIST from.

Another approach if you need the 5 areas to be linked try archiving the news
you want removed from the list and the non archived news will move up the
list.

If you use the archive feature to remove items from the front page, then I
think you can still recover them in a list by using both LIST and ARCHIVE
to display them collectively in say date order.
