[TYPO3-Solr] Compatibility with Apache Solr versions

Hi,

I've just tried to deploy the latest version of the EAP extension but 
I'm having problems on the servers that still use the Apache Solr 1.4.1 
version. The new version works on our development servers which have 
been upgraded to Apache Solr 3.5.

Is there incompatibility with the older Apache Solr versions?
I'm asking here because I can't upgrade these servers myself so I'll 
have to get the hosters to do that.
