you could try adding a build-in captcha renderlet (from FORMidable) to
the TS setup so that it appears in the form:

<http://formidable.typo3.ug/reference/elements/renderletcaptcha.html>

You'll also need to add it to the HTML.

And if you could create a patch for this and post it at
<https://bugs.oliverklee.com/>, that would be awesome.
