[TYPO3-RTE] disable accessibility icons in 1.2.0

Dear List,

can u help me pls how can i completely disable the accessibility images 
generated before my links in 1.2.0 (the last usable w/ typo3 3.8.1?). 
They r confusing our editors and there is an option to turn them off in 
1.4.1 when we install the extension but that doesnt work under 3.8.1 :( 
Or should i revert to a version where these icons weren't added? That 
seems a bit lame "solution" ..:)
