While waiting for a perfect TER, you can use the CVS manuals when available:

For SysExt:

For others in CVS:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/typo3xdev/

Manuals usually are in the /doc/ directory under the name manual.sxw 
(OpenOffice format)
