[TYPO3-RTE] Missing character classes

Hi,

I'm working on a typo3 installation, which doesn't lists tag free classes
in the textstyle selection anymore. 

These are all set:
RTE.default.showTagFreeClasses = 1
RTE.default.classesCharacter = Classname
RTE.default.proc.allowedClasses = Classname

But as long as "Classname" doesn't has "span" before it in the stylesheet
file, it isn't shown in the selection list. This was working in older
versions, and did change with an update from 0.7 to 1.1.3.
