It's definitely not something I would have put as a top priority, but 
since it seems like it was very easy to do, yes, it's absolutely fine. 
The general mechanism is very useful and opens up a lot of uses.

PS: now I'll read the start of the thread, I needed a bit of time to 
digest ;-)
