[TYPO3-dam] DAM element browser: max items

hi list

wondering if there still is somebody out there in this forum to help me 
solve a problem with DAM element browser?

since long i have a content element which used to contain more than 250 
pics, shown in the frontend as a gallery.

now i had to increase the number of pics to integrate in this CE.
so that at the end 275 should be integrated.

i was able to integrate the first 200 and save this content element.
all was correct.
but as soon as i wanted to save the additional 75 pics, there came a 
error message which said something like "you didn't fill out the 
necessary fields in this form which are marked with a warning sign".
so i could not save the content element any more.
it seems as if only 200 items are allowed in a content element?

why would that happen?
and how could i increase the number of pic elements to more than 200?

using:
- TYPO 3 version 4.5.32
- dam version 1.3.3
- dam_ttcontent version 1.2.2
- templavoila version 1.6.1
