[TYPO3-dam] tx_dam: deleted records - how to delete them really?

hi list

in my tx_dam table i have over 1000 records which are - correctly - 
marked as deleted = 1.
i have tried several methods to get rid of these entries.

but nothing really works:

- first was the deleting in module dam > list

- using the folder _recycler_ and deleting the records in this folder 
gets the out of the way

- optimizing table tx_dam only defragments it, but the 1000 deleted 
records are still in the table

as far as i know it's not very good to delete those records directly in 
phpMyAdmin, right?
is there any hint or help?
