[TYPO3-dam] tx_dam : still no move file function ?

While reorganizing a website file structure before putting it online, I am
realizing there is still no move file function in the dam. 

This is very painfull because you can't move files in the filesystem without
losing their dam references (well the references still exist in the tx_dam
table but then they point to nothing) and it is then very hard to locate
them in the tx_dam table to erase them, except maybe if the typo3
maintenance tool is capable of purging those dead records (I have not
checked so far). 

But then if you have file links in plugins or tt_content records which have
not copied the file, you'll get dead references too.

 

I have read in the typo3 mailing archive someone has come with the code for
a move function
(http://lists.typo3.org/pipermail/typo3-project-dam/2006-March/000202.html)
and sent it to the dam team, yet his UI was not good for immediate
inclusion. Maybe we could elaborate on that code and bring the move function
?

 

By the way it would be nice to put this function very high on the todo list.
This is a badly missing feature.
