[TYPO3-dam] DAM requirement set to PHP 5.2.6, why?

Hi,

why exactly is the requirement of the extension set to PHP 5.2.6 and 
higher? Is anything not working with PHP versions 5.2.0 to 5.2.5?

Im asking because we still have some servers running on ubuntu 8.04 LTS 
which brings: PHP 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.17 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.6.2
