[TYPO3-dam] MM relations lost after replacing file

Hi guys,

I've created a custom extension that lets me assign several tt_news  
records to DAM record. But if I use the replace file function in "File"  
module of DAM, the file is replaced, the metadata stored as expected, but  
the relation to news records are gone :( Is there any way to preserve  
these relations at all? Thanks for any information in advance!
