Hi Dan,

IMHO this is a missing feature:
tx_dam_SCbase::checkPathAccess doesn't check if user is admin. Is there 
any reason why not to grant the admin rights to access the files by 
default also not mounted?
I would just add
if ($GLOBALS['BE_USER']->user['admin'] || $pathInfo['mount_id']) ...
and provide a patch.
