[TYPO3-dam] Title field gets overridden with filename when replacing a file

Hi folks,

the problem is already in the topic. After having carefully filled out my meta data I needed to replace some files, and 
alas, my titles were all replaced as well. So here my question:

Can I somehow modify this behaviour?
If not I would file this as a bug.
If yes I would still file it as a bug because I think the default settings are wrong here.

Version is dam 1.1
