sorry, but I disagree. rgsmoothgallery is a JS-showoff imagegallery and 
a JS-only thing, is loading all images (including thumbnails) at once 
(so causes more traffic on a regular page hit), neither seo-friendly nor 
in any way accessible as far as I have seen. It's a nice toy for private 
websites, but nothing I would use on a professional website though.

As I see it, Torstens extension is a alternative to the clickenlarge 
feature, where you have the possibility to only show x number of images 
as preview in your regular content, and then provide a link to a image 
series (german: Fotostrecke). It seems accessible, seo-friendly, and 
more lightweight (due to limited preview images).  So I think they are 
quite different.

At least I pretty much welcome your extension Torsten - I've been 
looking for something like this and had a look at most stuff in TER - 
but none provided these features so far. If you like, you can send me a 
pre-version for testing - but watch out my spam-protected mail address
