I think it is good to take other usage of groups into consideration:

many versions of one file.

For example:
Doc1  version 1.0 start 24-5-2003 end_action 26-5-2004
Doc1  version 1.2 start 27-5-2004 end_action 26-5-2006
Doc1  version 1.3 .... actual

with posibility to insert actual version as filelink
