In principle that's an issue of the Extension Manager. I Think there's a bug 
listed in the bugtracker at bugs.typo3.org.

BTW: In my opinion multiplyDBfieldSize=2 is not necessary for utf-8 unless 
your content will use most of the time other chars than ASCII.
