[TYPO3-dam] Global categories

Hi Rene,

like tt_news dam comes with a nice and pretty category tree. So
development is done twice. A lot of people would like to have global
categories to give a logical structure to a whole website with all the
different applications.

Would it be possible for you to extract the dam category functionality
to an own extension and an independent table?

The development of dam_catedit could give a good opportunty to do this.
But dam_catedit shouldn't depend on dam, but rather the other way. The
global category tables would come with catedit and dam would use them
and share the structure with other extensions. Certainly the global
usage should be optional.
