[TYPO3-dam] Another sorting thread

AFAIK after indexing files are sorted by uid (though I can see in which 
order they get their id).
The only way to sort files seems to be by moving the files in the media 
folder of the page tree.
The problem: I've got over 700 images there and have to find maybe 50 
in the middle to sort them by clicking and waiting a few secs before 
moving the file further.

Is there a way to sort files by name, by date or title?

I really like to use ce_gallery, but not when all the pictures come in 
random sequence.
The question seems to be: Who should provide the sorting, DAM or ce_gallery?
