no I just contribute to the core,

On 11.8. I replied to you via this list that you could simply use:
<f:link.external uri="tel:004912345">phone</f:link.external>

Linking to a tel: is really more special than a mailto: or something. So
you should be fine without a separate ViewHelper imho.
