Hi,

W3C published a new working draft for HTML 5 on April 23nd, 2009:
http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/

Some background info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_layout_engines_(HTML_5)
http://wiki.whatwg.org/wiki/Implementations_in_Web_browsers
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/semanticsinhtml5
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/programming-and-development/?p=718
http://www.scriptol.com/xml/html-5-browsers.php
http://www.der-auftritt.de/wissen/HTML5-erste-Versuche.html (sorry,
german only)
http://www.w3.org/QA/2008/09/top-500-html5-validity.html

It`s work in progress of course but as the major browsers are supporting
it more and more it might be a good idea to start making TYPO3 HTML 5
ready. Like
* adding HTML 5 elements to allowTags in the RTE configuration
* expanding config.doctype

or thinking about how we could
* seperate the HTML wraps of the (image with text) content elements from
the code
*make different wraps for different doctypes
* put them into static templates and
* include them depending on the doctype?

What do you think about that?

all the best,
Sacha
