who says that? you have any credible sources or is this an assumption?
I think thats another disbelieve, as I wrote in my last post:

"if there is information in the alt text it takes the information 
instead of the picture"

so, if the image is between <a href="lala.htm"><img src="xyz.gif" 
alt="XYZ"></a> it gets read by the spider/crawler as <a 
href="lala.htm">XYZ</a>

To affirm this I wrote an Email to Google, I hope they can shed light on 
this. Of course I will post their answer here as soon as I got it.
