[TYPO3-community] Documentation and current status development

Hi everyone
I like very much the idea of creating a community extension for Typo using
extbase, grate job!
I've read that this project was chosen for Google Summer of Code this year
(congratulations!).

My company is going to develop a website with some basic community
functionalities for it's customer, so currently I'm doing a research what is
available on the market. Of course it would be grate if I can use some
existing typo3 extension (maybe with some modifications). Other possibility
is to write something from scratch or to use some non-typo3 solution. 

I know that Community extension is in alpha state, but it is still something
I can base on, rather than writing things from scratch :) I was looking for
any information which functionalities are already implemented in Community
but I couldn't find anything up to date.  
Even this mailing list is quite "dead", the last post was send a year ago,
so I'm wondering if this mailing list is still "alive"? 

I've downloaded the  Community from forge, but I couldn't make it work yet.
It's a pitty there is no documentation or wiki page with some hints (how
this ext is build, how it works and how to use it). 
There are also two wiki pages - one on
http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/Community and the second one on the forge.
On which one people should add theirs notes? 
I know that writing documentation is the most boring part of making software
(and there is never time for it:) ) but in my opinion the lack of
documentation is stopping many people from involving and collaborating in
this project. I would also like help somehow in this extension development,
but it's hard to find what is on the "TO-DO" list :) I can help in writing
down manual - half an hour on skype with any Community team member should be
enough for me to get an overview, so I could write down some basic manual
later. 

Summing up all questions:)
1. What is already done in this ext (which functionalities it already have),
and what is planned?
2. How to install it, and make it works?
3. How is it build? - basic info for developers who would like to use this
ext in some projects or want to collaborate.
4. How can I help developing this ext? What need to be done/what kind of
people the ext team needs (designers/programmers/sponsors :)/....)?
5. Which wiki page should people use?
6. Is this mailing list still alive? :)
