Hi Ralph,

in the ext_tables.sql, the last lines
#

# new types of articles can be added here for future needs

#

INSERT INTO tx_commerce_article_types (uid, pid, title) VALUES ('1',
'0', 'article');

INSERT INTO tx_commerce_article_types (uid, pid, title) VALUES ('2',
'0', 'payment');

INSERT INTO tx_commerce_article_types (uid, pid, title) VALUES ('3',
'0', 'delivery');

INSERT INTO tx_commerce_article_types (uid, pid, title) VALUES ('4',
'0', 'syscoupons');

INSERT INTO tx_commerce_article_types (uid, pid, title) VALUES ('5',
'0', 'syscoupons_special');

INSERT INTO tx_commerce_article_types (uid, pid, title) VALUES ('6',
'0', 'syscoupons_use');

create or insert the new article types for commerce_coupons. Can you
check if your Extension Manager really runs that script correctly?
If it doesn´t work in the EM you can run these queries in you pma (phpmyadmin).

Maybe this helps you to get a bit further.

Regards
Ralf
