[TYPO3-commerce] question on how products/articles are created

Good Morning everybody,

could anyone please explain to me in which class products and articles 
are inserted into the database? I found the 
"class.tx_commerce_articlecreator.php" but I think this one may only be 
a small part of the whole story.
I would like to insert a value into an own field called "ordernumber" 
into the tx_commerce_articles and I would like to fill the field while 
the product/article ist created.
