[TYPO3-project-4-3] Remove alt_main for 4.3?

In the alt_main class comment, it says:

This file is deprecated since TYPO3 4.2 and will be removed with TYPO3 4.4

Do we need to stick with this (and actively keep maintaining the file
for 4.3), or should we make an exception and drop the file already for 4.3?
