None, as very few opinions were expressed. Anyway we can't introduce big 
changes now as we are so close to RC.

My proposal is to simply add an extension configuration option that 
turns logging to the beLog on or off. Simple and efficient. How does 
that sound?

Could you open a bug report about this please?

Having a comprehensive logging facility should definitely be a topic for 
4.4.
