Just updated my Oracle install with revision 5492, deleted the whole 
schema and created it with Install Tool (full mode, not 1-2-3). I cannot 
see any problem, it just works and I can then log into the backend.

The only difference I have with your install is that I applied all 
patches I sent to the core list:

     * http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=11076
     * http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=11119
     * http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=11142
