I don't think it's a good idea. There are several features that should
get tested with an alpha release first. If we just switch to beta define
the feature freeze now, it might lead to the situation that APIs must be
changed in some parts in the beta phase (e.g. Extbase).

Besides that the alpha3 was announced and gives developers some more
time to get the still pending features finished until beta.
