Andreas,

It's solved! The fact that direct access to the typo3temp folder got me
thinking. Renaming that directory to anything else meant I was able to
access what was inside it. That meant that it had nothing to do with
Typo3...

In some earlier endeavours I think I created the typo3temp directory
directly using the Plesk panel. Except, that made it a protected directory.
Hence, when I try to access it, it asks me to log in...

Remove the directory setting from Plesk and ... voila! Solved!

Thanks for the support. As I hoped, it was not a typo3 issue ;-)


Now, to get stuck in with my new-found friend......
