[TYPO3-german] no connection to the database!

Hallo Liste.

Ich habe versucht typo3 4.2.6 auf Red Hat 4.1.2-44 zu installieren.
In die Mysql database kan ich manuel einloggen mit user=xxx, 
passowrd=yyy und host=zzz.

Diese Daten werden auch richtig im localconf.php eingetragen.

Das Problem ist, dass ich nach Schritt 1 im Install Tool abgewiesen 
werde mit der Fehlermeldung:

  There is no connection to the database!
(Username: xxx, Password: yyy, Host: zzz)

Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen?
