This is the first stable version of the 2016 series after three month beta phase. Major improvements since the beta release are the native support for net prices and the secure product downloads.

A new message queue infrastructure has been added to postpone and offload resource intensive tasks (like sending e-mails) to the scheduler tasks. There's an extension for message queue servers like RabbitMQ, Beanstalk and Stomp protocols. The Gettext implementation has been replaced by a low resource variant.

Editors can now manage product attributes and properties as well as promotional products in the simplified admin interface. There's no need to switch to the expert mode for this any more.

Customers don't need to login during checkout to see their new order in their history afterwards. They are associated to their account based on their e-mail address. Also, customer groups associated to each new user automatically can be configured.

Product information in the front-end are tagged with micro format data based on schema.org. Thus, all products are machine readable, especially by search engines like Google. They now display more information about the products in their search result page.
