[TYPO3-english] dynamically stream/download pdf

hi

im developing an extension for typo3 v6.2 in which i have to stream a pdf to the user on a specific event. i need a hint where i can bypass the default typo3 view handler and just return the pdf-content additional to some reasonable headers like 'content-type' and 'attachment'. 

background: the pdfs come from a different host for which i have to play proxy for reasons.
