I was able to fix the problem within bootstrap_package\Configuration\ContentElements\Base.ts by adding 

tt_content.image.20.1.layout.bootstrappackage.element.typolink.parameter.field = header_link

and the following for the news-item renderings at the end

tt_content.menu.20.news.1.NO.stdWrap2.cObject.20.1.layout.bootstrappackage.element.typolink.parameter.field = uid
