Hi,

since the TYPO3 CMS core tries to stay as basic as possible SQL-wise to
have portable SQL (DBAL) I doubt you'll run into problems anytime soon.
It's still quite much basic MySQL 5.x-stuff imho.
Extension authors might possibly use some more advanced SQL then they
should/need/... But I also don't think you'll run into problems there.

Personally I agree with you that having an official statement for
MariaDB-support would be great.
