Hi.

it works out of the box.
The reason was a misconfigured TypoScript setup in my installation:

Setting the following TS constant will activate the mail:
plugin.tx_powermail.settings.sender.enable = 1

But I had a conflicting TS setup, which was overriding the TS constant:
plugin.tx_powermail.settings.setup.sender.enable = 0

Removing this line from TS setup solved it.
