a user is also a record :-)
uid and pid are naming conventions, same as many others in the TYPO3
database schema... no sense to call WHY !

additional: im my OWN installations (it's only my way) the "RID" is a
identifier for rootlineID (all the rootline UIDs in a pagetree)
