You really should move your sources out of typo3conf. Have a look at INSTALL.md for an example (refer to ### Recommended setup). You can place your sources at any place you like, as long as the webserver can access them. For an easy setup on Debian/Ubuntu a good place would be under /var/www/

And assure that you use a php version with namespace support (>= 5.3.7?)
