Another difference is that Typo3 has a split between the backend module and the front-end module which means that your front-end users get only the HTML they need, and the back-end HTML doesn't need to "play nice" as much.   I've done Drupal templates that for instance prevent my users from editing an existing node because I didn't include the right boiler plate.

Typo3 goes a lot farther without a bunch of modules than Drupal does, also.
