Generally you don't want to release any development version to TER,
people interested into it should clone from your Git repository,
possibly from given branch.

Now, having two different extension keys is certainly not the way to go
as the extension key is used for autoloader and you don't want people to
be forced to manually change the directory name.

You may manage two "branches" by uploading version X or version Y but
honestly it will not be straightforward for users to upgrade "on the
same branch".
