Hi,
I've seen major issues on some sites (that aren't the fastest to begin
with) if SYS lockingMode is set to simple (default since 4.4 ?), combined
with uncached pages. Unfortunately all other lockingMode settings have
their own issues with extensions using these in the wrong way.
Otherwise I can recommend the typo3profiler extension - it has provided me
with some hints on particular slow queries, especially when looking at
modified / custom / old extensions.
