Just a side note. If you find such a client, may be, you can consider 
rewriting the ext instead of just patching? Coding standards changed 
significantly since the time this ext was created. It is popular and works, 
but the code is not what one can call "modern" or "clean". It would be nice 
to have all that functionality with a brand new code (solr-level code).
