won't happen that it is inside theme* but every template variant could
stil  of course use it.

please please please stop with thinking that your opion is the one
everybody. If wec, cooluri or whatever is the best thing for you, great
but don't believe that this is true for everybody else.

6.2 is not even out there and the API changed a very very bit, realurl
works already long time now and as said all the time: Having major
versions it is very much ok that an extension author needs to adopt things.

You want a better TYPO3 core? So you need changes and some of those
can't be done without forcing change of others.

but what do you want now? that TYPO3 stops it development so that
extensions which are not developed further still work? ... just kidding.

Kai Vogel is IMO still around, so maybe ask what you can do for him?
