I do not have much experience with this, but is should be enough to put the 
same DB settings in the TYPO3 CMS instance.

Please note that you need to share several files and folders in both 
instances, e.g. via a network share.
This includes fileadmin, uploads and typo3temp (although you could try 
without typo3temp).

You might also want to share the PHP session folder.
