You also have to keep in mind that people have different Google bubbles.
This effect is rather strong. E.g. I once logged in at work with my Google 
account and the next weeks I had tons of MS spam even at home.
At work I search a lot about windows problems, but rarely at home (home is 
more Linux and Co).
I did log out again at work, but nevertheless Google had the connection and 
adopted the search result according to my "personality".

Since a while this "feature" does not depend on a Google account any more.
